How to pair a replacement Amazon Remote

If your original remote was broken or lost, you can easily pair your Amazon Fire Stick or Fire TV with another replacement remote. Here’s how to do it.

Before you begin – Do NOT put batteries until you complete Step 2 and always use fresh brand new batteries. Batteries from old stock may get weak overtime and may not provide enough power for the remote to pair and/or function properly.

  1. Unplug your Amazon Fire Stick or Fire TV from the power outlet for 5 seconds
  2. Then, plug it back in. After the Amazon Fire TV Home Screen displays, your remote is ready for pairing.
  3. Insert fresh brand new batteries in your new remote
  4. Press & hold the Home button on your new remote for exactly 10 seconds and release it. After releasing the Home button, wait for exactly 60 seconds. Your new remote should automatically pair with your Amazon Fire Stick/TV. If the pairing was successful, you will see an on-screen message on lower right corner when it has successfully paired
  5. If you don’t see any on-screen message, then remove batteries from your remote and repeat Steps 1 through 4

Please Note – If you don’t remove batteries and unplug your Amazon Fire Stick or Fire TV before each pairing attempt then the pairing may not complete successfully.
